Question for Casual EoD players.

Gotta add that the majority of people posting on the forum lately are people who aren't happy with the expansion, so getting an opinion from here is going to be hella biased and lopsided. Are there genuine criticisms here? Yes. Are some people just...toxic, and it just happens to be concentrated here and in the subreddit? Yes.

So, only you are allowed to have an opinion. Anyone who disagrees with your opinion/has a different opinion is a troll, right?
Have fun, man.

Story instances are still soloable, as per usual. Spoiler alert for the last mission:
Spoiler
You pretty much all but become a god; it's very difficult to die on the last mission.
All the metas except the big final one are relatively straightforward. The first three strikes are pretty straightforward, too, even for solid casuals, and I haven't been forced to do them, outside of the pretty routine "Oh, I want this shiny thing." Shoot, doing the story gives you what the gist of the first three strikes are.

I mean...they didn't exactly say how to get the turtle. Gating it behind a 2 hour, 50 man raid with a lot of RNG was a real nyerk move, but they've addressed that. A 10 man strike that can literally be done with a bunch of healers and some DPS to ignore all the mechanics is...not that difficult. It just requires doing something different from OW stuff......and that's okay. (Jade Maw part still sucks and needs to be fixed, though, absolutely)
GW2 players are really spoiled in a lot of ways (not 100% a complaint). Other games gate shinies and expac features behind much worse things than a relatively simple instance.
That said, good LFG system when, please, Anet?

EoD Strikes CM

I dont understand why EoD Strike missions dont have a challenge mode, this would remove all the complains about the difficulty to obtain the turtle mount for some people who might struggle with slightly demanding gameplay
Personally I dont think Kaineng Overlook is hard, on the contrary the current version is so easy it can be cheesed by HSG or some random aegis spam but if we had a normal mode and CM it would be easier for everybody to just do the content they are mentally prepared for and get appropriate rewards for it aka turtle for normal mode and some more currency for CMI think the CM should not be something specifically for raids or fractals (and some strikes), but should become a common thing in Guildwars 2. Almost all issues could be solved by having a easy version for all the chill players and a harder version more mechanically demanding for everyone else, no idea why this feature is being completely ignored
They are adding CM to strikes later.

Turtle mount requires strike mission?

It's really not that difficult of a strike, though (and is significantly easier than a lot of the raids). There's no time limit on it or anything. There are probably people who'll yeet you into their backpacks to carry you for free. A ton of us "endgame people" really want more people to play with and are willing to help if you're willing to learn. Hell, I'd be one of them if I wasn't dealing with moving out of my house and preparing it to sell.

Working on it. I was on a hiatus since I hit lvl 80 after launch. I loved the game back then but once I got to "end game" content, I got bored. The poor original dungeons were so bad.
I got back about a year ago and, as I you image, there is a sh*tLOAD of content to go through. I made the mistake of going for Astralaria (a weapon I am not even using currently) instead of other things. That's why I do not have done much of IBS still. But with the legendary rewards for the Return To... achievements, I will get my masteries soon. I also want to replay everything from scratch again with a new Char to re-familiarize with the plot.
I really like this game. Really do. I do not miss WoW at all. And I was lucky to not have met any of the toxic people I so often hear about. Maybe I am lucky, or I am so oblivious to what happens around me that I didn't notice ::eheh::.
Tbqh, the only consistently large groups of toxic people I've seen are in PvP (saltmine) and in Dragon's End (new meta that people can't just autoattack through, which is what you've been able to do in just about all the rest of the openworld game, but I think that will chill out here over time. I mean, HoT metas eventually had people chill out and become routine). For the most part, everyone else has been reasonably chill. There's the occasional saltstick elsewhere in the game, but that's just to be expected in an MMO.
I've been replaying everything, too, starting with the Core story. I'm now caught up with A Star to Guide Us in LWS4 (just need to finish the 20 events to close out the Return To, so I can start the next episode).

Unlock the Charr waystation IBS mastery to get at least basic electropulse for a breakbar skill. It really helps. And wander around Drizzlewood for a little bit to get some of the scrap currency to use the waystation.
Also, I think mousing over your skills now tells you if they do defiance bar damage and how much.

Nah, just help them out then see if they have anything they can do to help you out. Like I don't like farming the Silverwastes so if I carry someone and they just happen to have a few shovels in their stash I'll gladly let them donate them to the guild treasury.
Thats the best part about MMO's is diversity of community and content. So everyone has purpose/ can bring something unique to the table.
I'm a staff member in a guild with a max hall, and I have just about everything I could ever want on my account or have the means to get it. I just enjoy slapping things. If they're cool (not whiny), could even maybe have them join the guild if they want.
For the most part, I just want to slap things. Moving has taken away all my playtime since EoD came out.

I remember, and that is why I have not gone back to HoT in years. It was not fun for me, so I left it for those that enjoy that hot mess, and horrid map design.😎
Bummer. It's hella rewarding and there are entire guilds dedicated to doing the metas.
Kinda tempted to "sell" the turtle strike...for the cost of the one food/utility I'm using on it (so...50s?).

I wasn't around back then, did the Ascalonian Catacombs take two hours to run, with no restart from a checkpoint, and leave 50 players with no loot if it failed?
You'd lose all your money from your gear constantly breaking when you died a few dozen times and had to pay to repair your gear, and then would come out of the dungeon with nothing to show for your time and effort and would be significantly poorer than before. GW2 used to be PAINFUL, especially compared to now.
The no rewards at all on this meta's failure is definitely jank, though, especially if you did enough events to have the full buff before the meta.

Gotta second what some of the others have said. This isn't making it any better. Why remove rewards from CM fracs if they're so "insignificant"?
I don't like 10 man content. It's not fun for me. I've immensely disliked both strikes and raids. I like 5 man content, especially fractals, but it looks like that, once again, you're taking the nerfstick to the 5 man content, and for why?

Infusions going back to "impossible to get"

You can get the frost legion infusion by farming and buying the mats off the TP instead of praying to RNGesus for a drop. >_>

Infusions going back to "impossible to get"
in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Posted September 30, 2021
Guild leader got chak infusion from the meta I think last month. Bunch of guildies have gotten the aurillium one. Unlucky me is over 300 ABs and no precursors, ascended boxes, or aurillium infusion yet.
They keep putting the infusions as super rare drops in various event chests and stuff. Had a couple guildmates get some that way (one got a chak from an event chest).
The Trick or Treat bags next week should have various infusions (the polyluminescent and ember infusions, iirc, at the very least) in them.

Already a big fan of that particular combination. I have two rangers that use condi, though my alternate weapon set is dagger/torch.
Yup! Shortbow with dagger/torch is the build. I love it so much.

Doesn't really change my point of view though. I'm not sure doesn't use the new weapon is really a valid complaint, because many meta builds also don't use the unique elite spec weapon.
You are correct that that is, indeed, not a really valid complaint. 🙂 We were just going over some where the elite spec does use their new weapon, especially for endgame meta builds.
For non-elite spec weapon unlock meta builds: Condi shortbow soulbeast is AWESOME, and I totally recommend trying it.

You've named five out of 18 elite specs though. I don't really use the new weapon with most of my characters. I play berserker warrior but use dual axe. I play longbow/greatsword on my ranger. I play greatsword/sword/focus on my mesmer. The idea that you need to use the new weapon for every build or even most is just not the case. I think that was the point.
Yes, but I think every elite spec uses its unlocked weapon in at least one meta build, and meta builds can be necessary if not nearly mandatory in certain high level content (lb/gs ranger isn't going to fly at all in T4 fractals and raids, but is perfectly fine for open world and other stuff that's not "hardcore" content). I listed in my original post the classes I've played that use/require their unlocked weapon for meta builds for endgame content.
Stuff like Condi Bannerslave berserker is meta in raids and fractals uses their torch unlock (power version runs axe/axe).
On my mesmer, I just usually run greatsword because I only play her in open world stuff and being able to kite around while laughing maniacally is nice. 🙂
