Creator Music is now available to U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). Expansion to YPP creators outside of the U.S. is pending.

Creator Music is a growing catalog of high quality music that creators can use in videos without losing monetization. Some songs can be licensed upfront, allowing creators to retain full monetization. Other songs may be eligible to share revenue with the track’s rights holders.

To get started with Creator Music, check out this video:

Open Creator Music

Creator Music lives in YouTube Studio. To open Creator Music:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio in a web browser.
  2. From the left menu, select Creator Music Get started with Creator Music (1).

Find and preview tracks

There are multiple ways to find your favorite tracks in Creator Music:

  • Browse featured tracks on the Home page
  • Browse tracks in categories like genre and mood
  • Search for a specific track or artist
  • Search for tracks that are licensable or eligible to share revenue
  • Create AI-generated instrumentals using Dream Track
  • Get song recommendations using AI

As you explore, songs can be previewed to help you decide if they’re the right fit for your content. Previews of some licensable tracks can be downloaded so you can make sure the song works in your video before you license it. Keep in mind that tracks marked as eligible for revenue sharing Get started with Creator Music (2) can’t be downloaded.

You can also preview a track’s usage details so you know how you can use a song before you use it in your video. Learn more about finding and previewing tracks.

Save and manage tracks

When you find a song you like, you can save it to your library. On the Your library page, you can view, filter, and sort a list of the tracks you’ve saved, downloaded, and licensed. Learn more about saving and managing tracks.

Get a license

Once you find a licensable track that you want to use, you can get the license directly in Creator Music or when you upload a video that uses the track.

When you license a track, you retain the full monetization of your video that uses the track. Keep in mind that licensable tracks may also be eligible to share revenue if your use of the song meets the revenue sharing requirements. Learn more about licensing.

Share revenue

When you use tracks that are eligible for revenue sharing Get started with Creator Music (3), you split the video’s revenue with the track’s rights holders, as long as your video meets the revenue sharing requirements. Some licensable tracks may also be eligible to share revenue if your video meets the revenue sharing requirements. Learn more about how revenue sharing works.
